Abstract

Re-introduce the history and culture of Kampung Madras in Medan city through the design of a Photo Essay Booklet. As a pluralistic country, Indonesia is rich in historical and cultural diversity. Sadly, the next generation of Indonesian has a low interest in exploring the cultural history that considered will be boring and uninteresting. Due to the rapid development of the times, history seems to be forgotten and denied. History was formed by witnesses of the past. History and culture have an important aspect of forming the identity of society where describes the various details as the existence of historical heritage culture, the whole past of events, relation, a gap of dimensions, which are its can be understood in its entirety. This research aims to Re-introduce the history and culture of Kampung Madras in Medan city, province of North Sumatera. In this research, we will discuss aspects of Kampung Madras the cultural history. This media design is based on data collection of observations and interviews, obtaining data from books and journals. The data will be compiled to the next process is to become a Photo Booklet as information media that is accessible easily by the others.
