Abstract

ABSTRACT

Bandung is one of the most popular cities for studying. The increasing interest of students in Bandung impacts the need for land for educational facilities, especially in urban areas. This paper will describe the concept of Biophilic Architecture in the design of Adiwidya Bandung Vocational School, located in Cileunyi on the east side of Bandung City. The concept of Biophilic was chosen as an alternative to address the issue of global warming that is sweeping the world. A qualitative descriptive method was chosen to obtain data which was then analyzed and applied to the design of Vocational school buildings. The biophilic design patterns applied are nature in space patterns or natural patterns in space combined with the application of modern architecture's five points of new architecture, namely, pilotis, free plan, free facade, horizontal window, and roof garden. Hopefully, this concept can create a comfortable school building supported by various supporting facilities and infrastructure. It is also hoped that applying this concept can be part of the solution to climate problems in cities.
