Abstract

ABSTRACT
The Youth Cultural Center (YCC) is designed as a facility for creative, educational, and cultural activities for the younger generation that requires an inclusive, adaptive, and sustainable space. This study aims to formulate design strategies for the YCC using an organic architectural approach to create spatial harmony that integrates social functions, architectural expression, and ecological quality. The research methods include a literature review on organic architecture theory, the concept of harmonious space, and biophilic design principles; site analysis in the Antapani area, Bandung City; and a review of design documents such as site plans, floor plans, sections, and landscape elements. The analysis was conducted by linking field findings to harmony indicators from visual, social, and ecological aspects. The findings reveal four main strategies in achieving spatial harmony in the YCC: (1) imaginary lines as guides for spatial orientation, (2) integration of interior and exterior spaces through innercourts, voids, and transitional areas, (3) social nodes such as plazas, innercourts, and amphitheaters as community interaction hubs, and (4) symbiosis with the landscape through the application of green roofs, grass walls, rooftop gardens, and water features. These strategies result in a YCC design that is functional, contextual, and capable of enhancing thermal comfort as well as social interaction. Thus, the organic approach is proven effective as a design solution for public facilities that are harmonious, inclusive, and sustainable for the younger generation in tropical urban contexts.
