PENERAPAN ARSITEKTUR NEO-VERNAKULAR PADA PERANCANGAN BALE KAWULA RASA DI KOTA BANDUNG

Abstrak
Kota Bandung sejak 2015 ditetapkan oleh UNESCO sebagai Creative City of Design, yang menempatkan kreativitas sebagai salah satu penggerak utama pembangunan kota. Namun, perkembangan arus globalisasi telah membawa dampak yang signifikan pada generasi muda, terutama dalam hal keterikatan terhadap budaya lokal. Banyak pemuda lebih mengenal budaya asing dibandingkan warisan budaya Sunda yang seharusnya menjadi identitas mereka. Kondisi ini menjadi tantangan sekaligus peluang untuk menghadirkan ruang publik yang mampu menjadi wadah ekspresi, edukasi, interaksi, sekaligus media pelestarian budaya. Penelitian ini bertujuan merancang Bale Kawula Rasa Youth Culture Center dengan pendekatan arsitektur neo-vernakular sebagai solusi desain yang kontekstual. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif kualitatif menurut Sugiyono (2019), dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi tapak, studi dokumentasi, dan studi pustaka. Hasil perancangan menunjukkan bahwa penerapan prinsip neo-vernakular dapat diwujudkan melalui reinterpretasi elemen arsitektur Sunda, seperti bentuk atap tagog anjing dan julang ngapak, penggunaan material lokal (kayu, bambu, batu), serta penerapan konsep tata ruang Sunda (tata lampah – tata tengah – tata girang). Rancangan menghasilkan bangunan yang modern, fungsional, namun tetap berakar pada nilai budaya lokal. Dengan demikian, Bale Kawula Rasa diharapkan mampu menjadi pusat kreativitas yang memperkuat identitas budaya Sunda di kalangan generasi muda Kota Bandung.

Abstract
Since 2015, Bandung has been designated by UNESCO as a Creative City of Design, placing creativity as one of the main drivers of urban development. However, the development of globalization has had a significant impact on the younger generation, especially in terms of their attachment to local culture. Many young people are more familiar with foreign cultures than with the Sundanese cultural heritage that should define their identity. This situation presents both a challenge and an opportunity to create public spaces that can serve as venues for expression, education, interaction, and cultural preservation. This study aims to design the Bale Kawula Rasa Youth Culture Center using a neo-vernacular architectural approach as a contextual design solution. The research method used is qualitative descriptive analysis according to Sugiyono (2019), with data collection techniques through site observation, documentation study, and literature review. The design results show that the application of neo-vernacular principles can be realized through the reinterpretation of Sundanese architectural elements, such as the tagog anjing and julang ngapak roof shapes, the use of local materials (wood, bamboo, stone), and the application of Sundanese spatial concepts (tata lampah – tata tengah – tata girang). The design produces a modern, functional building that remains rooted in local cultural values. Thus, Bale Kawula Rasa is expected to become a center of creativity that strengthens Sundanese cultural identity among the younger generation in Bandung City.
