PERANCANGAN BUKU ILUSTRASI TENTANG PENYAKIT JANTUNG BAWAAN (PJB) SEBAGAI MEDIA EDUKASI BAGI ORANG TUA

Abstract

Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) is a dangerous disease that causes about 50% death in the first month of life. In developed countries, almost all types of CHD are discovered before babies are less than a month old, whereas in developing countries, CHD is only discovered after they become older, so some may have died before it is discovered. Around 8 out of 1000 births in Indonesia experience congenital heart disease. From the results of existing research, it shows that the majority of parents who have children with CHD do not understand CHD thoroughly. However, it is expected that not only parents of CHD patients know about CHD, but the general public as well, so that they can help in preventive and promotive efforts as well as early detection of CHD. Therefore, the illustrated book about CHD is considered an effective solution to overcome this challenge with clear visualization and simple language. Illustrations can help the general public understand complex medical concepts, raise awareness, and support better prevention and treatment efforts. Research is carried out through the collection of data from relevant articles, journals, and books and design methods of design thinking. The results of this design get a positive response from the audience and help understand CHD better.

Abstrak

Penyakit Jantung Bawaan (PJB) adalah penyakit yang berbahaya yang menyebabkan kematian sekitar 50% pada bulan pertama kehidupan. Di negara maju, hampir semua jenis PJB ditemukan sebelum bayi berusia kurang dari satu bulan, sedangkan di negara berkembang, PJB baru ditemukan setelah menjadi lebih tua, sehingga beberapa mungkin telah meninggal sebelum terdeteksi. Sekitar 8 dari 1000 kelahiran di Indonesia mengalami penyakit jantung bawaan. Dari hasil penelitian yang sudah ada menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar orang tua yang memiliki anak dengan PJB tidak memahami PJB secara menyeluruh. Namun, diharapkan bahwa tidak hanya orang tua pasien PJB yang tahu tentang PJB, tetapi masyarakat umum juga, sehingga mereka dapat membantu dalam upaya preventif dan promotif serta deteksi dini PJB. Oleh karena itu, Buku ilustrasi tentang PJB dianggap solusi efektif untuk mengatasi tantangan ini dengan visualisasi yang jelas dan bahasa yang sederhana. Ilustrasi dapat membantu masyarakat umum memahami konsep medis kompleks, meningkatkan kesadaran, dan mendukung upaya pencegahan serta penanganan yang lebih baik. Penelitian dilakukan melalui pengumpulan data dari artikel, jurnal, dan buku yang relevan dan metode perancangan design thinking. Hasil perancangan ini mendapatkan respon positif dari audiens dan membantu pemahaman tentang PJB lebih baik.
