Plant stannic chloride PT Timah Industri mengalami peningkatan kapasitas produksi mengakibatkan peningkatan jumlah limbah gas yang dihasilkan, limbah gas didominasi oleh gas klorin sebesar 93,08%w ini sangat berbahaya, perlu dilakukan pengurangan kadar gas klorin ini agar aman untuk dilepas ke lingkungan. Pada penelitian ini dirancang unit pengurang kadar klorin pada plant stannic chloride PT Timah Industri, dimana metode yang digunakan adalah metode absorpsi dengan mengontakkan gas klorin terhadap absorben NaOH. Jenis kolom scrubber yang akan dirancang adalah packed bed scrubber. Melalui penelitian ini diketahui bahwa tinggi packing untuk kolom scrubber yang akan mengabsorpsi limbah gas pada saat produksi stannic chloride optimal 18 ton/hari yaitu 5,5 m dan kebutuhan larutan NaOH untuk proses absorpsi limbah gas plant stannic chloride sebesar 28,1038 m3/hari. Spesifikasi kolom packed yang dirancang adalah jenis packing pall ring, diameter 0,24 m, tinggi 7,5 m.

PT Timah Industri's stannic chloride plant has increased its production capacity resulting in an increase in the amount of waste gas produced, the waste gas is dominated by chlorine gas at 93.08% w this is very dangerous, it is necessary to reduce the levels of this chlorine gas so that it is safe to be released into the environment. In this study, a unit for reducing chlorine levels was designed at PT Timah Industri's stannic chloride plant, where the method used was the absorption method by contacting chlorine gas with the NaOH absorbent. The type of scrubber column to be designed is packed bed scrubber. Through this research it is known that the packing height for the scrubber column which will absorb waste gas during the optimal production of stannic chloride is 18 tons/day, which is 5.5 m3 and the need for NaOH solution for the absorption process of stannic chloride plant waste gas is 28.1038 m3/day. The designed packed column specifications are type of packing pall ring, diameter 0,24 m, height 7,5 m.
