Penerapan Arsitektur Metafora Intangible pada Rancangan Basajan Expositie Centrum di Kota Baru Parahyangan

Abstract

ABSTRAK
Exhibition center merupakan fasilitas bangunan yang mewadahi sebuah kegiatan eksibisi dan konvensi dimana kegiatan tersebut dapat meningkatkan taraf perekonomian dan kemajuan suatu daerah. Kota Bandung sebagai ibukota provinsi Jawa Barat mempunyai keragaman potensi daya tarik berupa wisata alam, budaya maupun kegiatan khusus lainnya. Hal ini menjadikan Bandung sebagai destinasi wisata MICE yang cukup prospektif. Kota Baru Parahyangan menjadi lokasi yang strategis karena merupakan kota mandiri yang memiliki potensi besar sebagai area pusat bisnis dan pariwisata. Tujuan perancangan ini ialah membangun fasilitas eksibisi dan konvensi dengan penerapan arsitektur metafora, dimana penggunaan metafora terbaik adalah ketika metafora tersebut tidak terlihat secara visual oleh pengguna. Pada disiplin ilmu linguistik, metafora diartikan dalam konteks makna denotatif dan konotatif, dalam arsitektur, bangunan tidak hanya bermain dengan bentuk fisik, tetapi juga bermain dengan pesan dan makna yang tersembunyi. Berangkat dari sebuah kiasan ‘truth is ever to be found in simplicity’ menjadi landasan awal dalam menciptakan pendekatan arsitektur metafora intangible pada Basajan Expositie Centrum dengan harapan pengguna dapat memberi presepsi tersendiri mengenai nilai kesederhanaan dan kejujuran. Bentuk dasar geometri murni dengan penggunaan material-material asli seperti beton, kayu, dan batu alam yang di-finishing halus dipadu dengan bukaan-bukaan yang besar pada fasad bangunan menjadi perwujudan nilai kesederhaan dan kejujuran.

ABSTRACT
Exhibition center is a building facility that can accommodate exhibition and convention activities which these activities can improve the level of economy and progress of a district. Bandung as the capital of West Java province has a variety of potential attractions in the form of natural, cultural, and other special activities, this makes Bandung a prospective MICE tourist destination. Kota Baru Parahyangan is a strategic location because it is an independent city that has great potential as a business and tourism center area. The purpose of this design is to be able to build an exhibition and convention facilities by applying metaphoric architectural, which the best use of metaphor is when the metaphor is not visually visible by the user. In the discipline of linguistics, metaphor is defined in the context of denotative and connotative meanings, wherein architecture, buildings do not only play with physical forms but also play with hidden messages and meanings. Departing from a figurative ‘truth is ever to be found in simplicity’, it became the initial foundation in creating an intangible metaphoric architectural approach of Basajan Expositie Centrum, with hope that users could give their own perception about the value of simplicity and honesty. The basic form of pure geometry as the form of the building with the use of original materials such as concrete, wood, and stone which is finely finished combined with large openings on the façade of the building is the embodiment of the value of simplicity and honesty.
